On-site training delivered by industry experts.
Our slinger banksman training course gives workers the knowledge and practical skills to safely direct crane operations, assess and attach loads, and signal lift movements on construction and industrial sites. The slinger banksman plays a critical role in the safety of every crane lift — incorrect load attachment and poor communication between crane operator and ground personnel are among the leading causes of serious lifting accidents.
The course covers the responsibilities of the slinger banksman, standard hand signals and radio communication, load weight assessment and centre of gravity, selection and inspection of lifting accessories including slings, chains and shackles, safe attachment of loads, lift planning, and working safely in proximity to the crane. Both theoretical and practical elements are assessed.
Delivered on-site at your premises, the course suits workers being appointed as slinger banksmen for the first time and those renewing existing certification. Typical duration is two days.
On successful completion, operators receive recognised certification aligned with CPCS and NPORS standards, meeting principal contractor requirements for lifting operations under the Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) 1998.
