Asbestos Awareness Training
Our asbestos awareness training course ensures workers who may encounter asbestos-containing materials (ACMs) during their work fully understand the risks and know how to protect themselves and others. Under the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, workers in roles where they could be exposed to asbestos — including tradespeople, maintenance workers, site workers and supervisors — are legally required to receive this training.
The course covers the different types of asbestos, where they are commonly found in buildings, and the serious health risks associated with exposure including mesothelioma and lung cancer. Operators learn to identify materials that may contain asbestos, understand their legal responsibilities, and know what steps to take if asbestos is encountered or suspected.
Crucially, the training teaches workers what to do and — equally importantly — what not to do. Accidental disturbance of ACMs is one of the most significant causes of asbestos exposure on UK sites, and the course provides clear guidance on safe working practices to reduce this risk.
The half-day course is suitable for construction workers, maintenance teams and anyone working on or in buildings constructed before 2000. Delivered on-site at your premises for minimum disruption.
